One of the key values of Cloud Foundry is that it provides a clean abstraction over the underlying infrastructure, making it easy to move between the private and public cloud and between public cloud providers. However, most cloud vendors today provide 1st party services that can replace or extend components of Cloud Foundry, reducing costs or enabling additional functionality. This presents a quandary: how can you strike a balance between maintaining a cloud-agnostic environment and taking advantage of best-of-breed services from the provider hosting that environment.

In this session, Sean and Colin will cover the tradeoffs to consider. As a case study, they'll discuss best practices learned from customers using Cloud Foundry on Microsoft Azure.
